Welcome

Thanks for visiting my website.

I am sculptor practicing on the edge of the Pennine hills in the UK. I live with my husband and two young sons. My practice encompasses the themes of contemporary feminism, parental responsibility, memories and the passage of time and my mediums range from the traditional to the experimental.

Following a career in retail banking and the birth of my two sons, I attended The University of Salford graduating with a BA (hons) in Visual Arts 2008 and am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Contemporary Fine Art.

I am fascinated by the idea of woman as maintainer. Sculpture enables me to explore this role and celebrate the strength of the female domestic ritual. By using familiar objects with collective resonance my work is accessible and challenges the idea of art as an elitist pursuit.

Ceramics from the Tait Gallery

The Pottery is up and running. I'd love to say it was a warm clean unit with white walls, high ceilings and amazing light but I'd be lying. It's really a draughty garage with a slightly leaky roof, broken windows and second hand tools (some cunningly disguised as kitchen utensils). But it's a happy place and you'll find me there as often as I can be, usually covered in clay and singing to the chickens next door. I do however have a kettle and two mugs and love receiving visitors!

Following the very successful Tait Gallery Christmas gifts I am now making ceramic hearts for Valentines day (or any other occasion you can think of). See my 'work for sale' page for details.
